The Gait Trading Company Limited originated by the Given Family, Ian and Jessica Given and is now owned and operated by their son David and Debbie Given. It was first established in 1989 in Auckland as a wholesaler of residential locks and latches to the building industry. It is one of New Zealand’s largest importers and distributors of door hardware and locksmithing products to suppliers nationwide. Gait has sourced manufacturing and industrial supplies from Asia for over 20 years. Now includes sourcing is from various parts of the South Pacific.
In 1994 the company relocated to Tauranga where a larger warehouse operation dramatically increased the range of products, and enhanced our customer service.

International Allegiance
The Gait Trading company is affiliated to Gait International ( www.gaitinternational.com ), a Hong Kong based subsidiary established as a specialist product development and manufacturing platform in Asia. Gait International has four Asia Pacific offices – Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, New Zealand – giving us the ability to respond rapidly to clients needs. Gait Trading Company also has a sister company called Supreme Lock & Hardware (www.supremelock.co.nz) which is able to deliever architectural door hardware to the Residental and Commercial market.
Wholesale Customer Service
Gait Trading Company Ltd restricts its trading to Hardware merchants, aluminium fabricators, door pre-hangers, locksmiths and door manufacturers. We do not sell directly to the end user. Our isolation from the end user enables us to concentrate on supreme customer service. We stand by this, as we believe in fair trade for our customers and supporting their business needs is essential.
Strong communication with both customers and manufacturers of our products means we are influential in product development to meet the specific needs of many sectors of the building industry.
